Welcome to the Ginger Jug Band web-site... Last update (220504) (check the Latest News Page .ed)

Who? The original GJB as the name would suggest played "good time" jug band blues material generally taken from the 1920s-1930s period. The band's heyday was the early 1970s when they were in much demand, playing at North Kent & S.E. London folk clubs.

..the Double CD... in 1972 The Ginger Jug Band recorded their only album "The Ginger Jug Band." This album was sold only at gigs and consequently today has become a collectors' item. However, there is now a double CD available of the original album and it includes live and rehearsal material never released before. This new release is called click here for more details. Interest in the Double CD has been widespread, with albums being shipped all over the UK, USA and Japan! Many thanks to all of you who ordered the album...

Many apologies to those of you who have shown interest in the CD but, either had no answer from us or were informed that the CD was unavailable.. The CD project was carried out as to preserve the original recordings... we "manufactured" CDs to supply a dedicated band of fans from way back... Demand for the CD will never be LARGE so we have never intended to have the CD "pressed" hence the availability of the CD has always depended on getting the time and resources together to "hand craft" a small batch. Being a double CD just adds to the time involved.. Anyway, the good news is that there will be a small quantity available in August 2004.. we apologies for the delay but at least you know each CD is extremely rare*** and has been lovingly "hand made." .. thanks .ed.

*** at the last count we think there are 80 s out there...

If you are interested in a WMA version of the CD that could be downloaded along with Album art work etc please let us know.. we are considering this option at the moment. The CD cost would be somewhat less than the original CD.. please let us have your comments..

Refried Ginger Jug???

In 2000 Geoff Beaumont, Tony Petto, Rick Harper, Andy Beaumont, and Andy's son Tom got together to form Refried Ginger Jug. This resurrected edition of the GJB played at the 2000 Broadstairs Folk Week and by popular request again in 2001 and 2002. They were accompanied by Gideon Payne on blues harp.. Fans old and new showed their enthusiasm for the band and music and even turned up to Geoff's special "Jug Blowing Workshop" to learn the finer points of playing the jug.
